~ About the Artist ~
I am a left-handed, thread crochet artist who has been crocheting for over 27 years. I specialize in unique, OOAK (one of a kind), crocheted fashions and accessories for Kelly, Barbie's little sister. I also crochet for other dolls, including Nikki and Krissy from the Mattel family, and also for Ellery Kish. When I was 12 years old, my granny Bessie taught me the amazing art of crochet. I am, what you would call, a "crochet-a-holic." Most of my spare time is spent designing and crocheting my latest Kelly outfit. All my doll fashions are one-of-a-kind, and are made with lots of love and creativity. My creations are custom designed to fit Kelly specifically, but they also fit other 4 - 4 1/2" fashion dolls. My Own Style of Creating... I have this funky way I like to create... Totally disorganized! But I like to think the end result is worth the pondering and waiting for the perfect final touch to each individual outfit! I always have at least 3, one of a kind, creations in progress. I do not produce a high volume of items. I am an artist, and my main objective is to produce a high quality, beautiful, one of a kind design. I am doing what I love...I am creating things for people who seek a handcrafted work of art! When you purchase a Tracey Eelkema original fashion ensemble, be assured that it is one of a kind. Each creation that I offer to you has been born from my own imagination. Although I do have a particular technique, nothing I create is ever exact in it's likeness to anything else I've created. All my fashions are "Haute Couture" - meaning high end. My supplies are of excellent quality including threads, closures, ribbon, beads, embellishments and other findings. All closures and finishing touches are hand-sewn on. I am very fussy, and it shows in my top of the line creations. My work is heirloom quality, with the utmost attention to detail. I prefer to create fashions that make Kelly look like a little girl. From time to time, I do create "All Grown Up" ensembles. I ensure that all my fashions are created, and kept, in optimum condition for delivery to their new owner. You will receive your item promptly and finely packaged, along with a dated and signed certificate of authenticity (COA). My doll clothes are aimed at the discriminating collector, and are not recommended for children under three. If you are purchasing my doll clothes for child's play, they are durable and made to last. Every snap, finding and embellishment is firmly secured. Each and every one of my doll fashions are photographed and documented in a database, for future reference. I keep immaculate track of things like the creation date of the ensemble, as well as other pertinent data regarding the creation. Photos of your ensemble can be purchased to arrive along with your creation for a small additional cost. Occasionally, I do crochet other keepsakes and treasures. I prefer to crochet with thread, as it is my absolute favorite! When I manage to tear myself away from designing and crocheting for Kelly, I create thread bears and their accessories, floral doilies and other heirloom quality keepsakes. I am a stay at home wife, and mother of two lovely sweet daughters. My oldest is a teenager and my youngest a toddler, so life is definitely never boring! I have a wonderful, supportive, husband who I swear is really an angel underneath all those regular clothes. I am a very lucky woman and am very content staying at home. My past careers include web designer and bookkeeper.
